I am way behind on my journal, and to make it up, I will tell a bit about me and Conor, as people seem to like those best.

This was a few weeks ago, I took him to his favorite playground, "adventure playground" It started to get on in the day, and all the other kids left. The park where the playground is has a river that goes by it, and a path by the river. I like walking it, so I took him and we went on a little hike.

I liked pointing out the different tracks we saw in the mud next to the path (dog, horse, deer) as well as pointing out the animal droppings we saw (rabbit). Speaking of rabbits, we saw plenty of them. Conor wanted nothing more than to pet one. But ofcourse they be skitterish creatures. We were able to get close, if we moved slow, but never close enough to pet. Conor really didn't understand why. So he tried reasoning with them.

"Hello rabbit. I won't hurt you, I just want to pet you. Why do you run away from me?"

All in all it was some good bonding between father and son.

I get him for four days this week, including my birthday and easter. I am really looking forward to it. His current obsession is dragons so I am gonna try to do a Dragon themed Easter basket for him. I pick him up early tomorrow morning, and have him for the day, then I return her to she who is not to be named, and I figure I will get his easter stuff then, and hide it till Sunday. Pick him up early Friday (my birthday) and have him for the weekend. Time with conor is pretty much my favorite thing in the world.

In other news, I am now a nielsen family. Not for the TV, but for the conusmer shopping habits. They gave me a neat lil' gadget (YAY GADGETS!)to scan the barcode of everything I buy. I have to get a recipt for everything now, as I have to enter prices too. Now I represent thousands of shoppers of my demographic. I think the Jolt Cola people are gonna love me even more now.

----

In other news... I went to DVR. It was a total waste of time. I don't get it, when she who is not to be named went, they bent over backwards for her, getting her equipment, doing all these assessment tests, and setting her up with a job to get work experience.

Me? Asked me what I wanted to do, I told them.. "OK look into that, because I don't know of any jobs like that in Casper." Also they want me looking for work on my own "so I can show my bosses you are trying"

Well basicaly if I thought I could find work on my own, I would not have gone to them! Gah. So frustrating. What I really want is some schooling to get my skills up to date without having to teach myself like I always do. Thanks for nothing, DVR!

---

In other news... turns out I don't need DVR. The guy I have been scripting for for almost a year in Second Life is hiring me for real money to do some development in the real world. But I have to teach myself Ruby on Rails, as thats the platform he wants me to work with. Good news is he is gonna pay $10/hour to train myself for 20 hours. On his own dime. Then after that, his bosses will be paying me. Or him, and he me, or something. I don't know if its me being a contractor, under the table, or employee. Either way, its good for me. Working at home part time, earning some dough.

It's good to hear from you!

You know if you can make this job thing work, that would be SO ideal! And the "Nielsen" shopper thing is neat! Did they pick you or did you sign up somewhere? If you did sign up, could you link me? I'd be interested!

Like the Conor story -- that's cute. I think your "she who is not to be named" is quite appropriate. But remember, they DID eventually begin saying Voldemort! LOL

It sounds like a lovely time in the park with a small boy who likes animals!

Sounds like something that would go over quite well in SL!

Zen-
Thanks for the story-telling. Connor sounds like a really great kid - it is no wonder that you are the most happy when you are spending time with him. The dragon-themed Easter basket sounds perfect! And Lapin is likely right...it would go over very well in SL.
Congrats on the development job discovered whilst working in the aether. I am sure you will knock their socks right off.
Hope to see you soon around Caledon!
