So 300 years ago today Benjamin Franklin was born. I idolized Franklin when I was a kid. I especially liked the fact that he was self taught. I remember being in school about 1987 or so, and having to write a rap about a founding father. I rapped about Benjamin Franklin. I don't remember a single lyric. Public education at its best, folks.
As a teenager, I think I was more impressed with his inventions than his statesmanship.
I think after I write this I will go watch that Disney Short Ben and Me which tells the story of all his best Ideas coming from a little mouse friend that sounds like Sterling Holloway.
And lets hear it for Taking Old Women to Bed instead of Young.
