I made my own fun this year for father's day.

I took Conor mini-golfing for the first time. At first he did not want to go at all. He said he didn't like mini golf and he always loses. The only mini-golf he has played has been video games. So he kind of had an idea of what it was like, but I was determined to show him the real mini-golf. I did have to bribe him saying we would go to the arcade afterwards.

By the time we finished the first hole he was hooked. He had such a good time and so did I. He even got a hole in one. (I got three).

I love mini-golf, as I am sure any of my ex-girlfriends and other pals can attest. Its been years since I have been, but now that I know that Conor likes it I will make it a habit again.

Then we went to Wal Mart. I saw on a Superman webpage somewhere that Wal Mart had some Superman Father's day promotional items. And I wanted one. [livejournal.com profile] buffalogalwasn't gonna take Conor to shop for me like I did for her on mother's day so I decided to do it myself.

Didn't find the t-shirt or the mug that had the Superman S and the word "Dad" underneath. So we looked at other Superman stuff. I got a big action figure (not tied in to the new movie) with a comic. Conor said to me as we were looking at the stuff, "I like Superman now". Made me so happy. Conor actually came out ahead. He saw a commercial for the inflato suit, and they had one left.

This toy is a Superman shirt and cape that inflates with this electric fan you hook up to it to make "muscles". He likes it but gets embarrassed and doesn't want to be looked at when wearing it. But he did wear it in the car when I went to McDonalds for a father's day Big Mac and get Conor a happy meal.

So no luck finding any Superman Penut Butter, but I did find an unexpected Superman Product tie-in.

Its made by Sobe, its called Superman(TM) Super Power Adult Energy Supplement. Its in a black & white can with a great big Superman S on the front. Other promising things found on the can is the following warning, "NOT RECOMMENED FOR CHILDREN, PREGNANT WOMEN OR PEOPLE SENSITIVE TO CAFFEINE". Sounds like my kind of drink. And because its labled as a supplement, another warning, this time outlined... "THIS PRODUCT IS NOT INTENDED TO DIAGNOSE, TREAT, CURE OR PREVENT ANY DISEASE"

Though it seems kind of wrong and unfair to put a great big Superman logo on something then say its not for kids. Speaking of not for kids, Superman Returns is rated PG-13. I'd really like to take Conor with me to see it on opening day, but I think the better thing to do is go without him and screen it first to see if he could handle it. Revenge of the Sith was PG-13 too, and he handled that OK, though I did tell him to cover his eyes when Darth Vader caught on fire. He saw that scene on TV not too long ago, and trying to get him to look away, he looked anyway, and said "cool!" so go figure. The interviews I have read say the film was intended for people between 8 and 80 (and Conor is on the cusp of 7) so we will see.

I don't know what the drink tastes like.. I've been saving it. So no time like the present. I'll take a swig and put my review here. Its kind of red in color. I guess like his cape... tastes like an energy drink. Nothing too exciting. Its been a long while since I have had a red bull but it kind of taste like that but sweeter I think.

I'll save the can but I doubt I will buy another.

I finished the can and I think I can accuratley describe how the Superman(TM) Super Power Adult Energy Supplement tastes.

"It tastes like candied ass".
