zenmondo: (Aiki-ink)
Well [livejournal.com profile] keltgrrl has convinced me. Savings Accounts are for chumps, if you really want to save money get yourself a jar, and start stuffing all your change and other money into it.

We have been saving up for months to be able to afford our road-trip to the midwest (Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado). Every night I would empty out the coins from my pocket into this jar, and we put folding money in as well. Roomates rent money went right into the the jar. We saved like fiends. In quarters alone there is about 80 bux in there. All told we were able to save over $600. Not bad. So, we can go out and see the family on our own steam this time. yay us.

So, when I get back from the trip, I have a new teaching gig waiting for me, one that should bring in an extra $400 or so a month. At least half of this I think will go in the jar. So here is my to do list for the jar money in the months (years?) ahead.

* Vacation (The current Jar money for this)

* Finally legaly change my first name to "Tadhg".
* After this is done, get ordained by ULC -- doesn't cost anything, but I want to be ordained as "Tadhg Christopher Bird"

* Get ink, the Ai and Ki kanji on my wrists.

* Play Station 2

* Get ink, the Tattoo that was designed for me by Pat Fish, and travel expenses to Santa Barbara.

Ofcourse [livejournal.com profile] keltgrrl will have uses for jar money too, this is just my list.
