Nerds, lines, and costumes
Jun. 21st, 2003 12:04 pmLast night, there was a party at Barnes & Noble for the release of the new Harry Potter book, and
keltgrrl and I were there. I like Harry Potter pretty well, but the wife is a Harry Potter NUT. So we get there around 10:30 and get in the line for the losers that didn't pre-order the book. It was pretty cold. I thought they would let us in the store, so I was just wearing a t-shirt. Stupid me. Ah well, soon they started letting our line into the store, handing out tickets to get the new book, and then they stopped about a dozen people in front of us, citing that the store was at capacity, and the fire marshall wasn't letting anyone else in. Way bummer. We had to wait until after midnight when the book went on sale, and people started leaving the store. It was about 12:30 before we got inside.
Man it was so so crowded. We found some folding chairs, and sat down. The wife was very tired of standing. Before long there were readings from the first four Harry Potter books where we were sitting. Maedb enjoyed that greatly. The guy was a good reader. I missed most of it, between reading martial arts magazines and getting in line to buy the book when our number was up.
When we got home, well after 1:30am, Conor was awake on the couch watching cartoons. So, I just sat on the couch with him and cuddled. It was nice.
I watched episode 3 of the HikaGo anime on the computer, then took Conor to bed.
It was a funnish night.
