Actually, the fire DID make the news... PAPER, that is. I saw it in the left column of the Local section, either page B1 or B2. This was right around the time J. and I bought our house, I believe. I know I was in my house when I read the article and called J. to ask what your sister's last name was.
Hey -- why don't we introduce her to *my* sister? [trying to keep a straight face] She's currently living at my mom's house, after having been homeless -- well, living in a crappy motel room for a few months; and CPS has recently taken away HER kids (temporarily, I hope)... maybe they could rent an apartment together.
Who do you think would strangle the other first? ;)
