zenmondoSince I was on such a roll with Conor today I decided it was time for another first.
I loaded up an Apple II Emulator and helped him write his first program in BASIC just as I did when I was his age. (Though my first program was an an actual Apple II.) He thought it was pretty cool.
The Program was of course
10 PRINT "CONOR"
20 GOTO 10
I just wonder as the years go on if he will remember it as fondly as I remember my first program.
I just wish I had a vintage APPLE II to have him program on. Oh well.
Need better refrences, my BASIC skills are rusty. Found some pages on the web thankfully.

In other news, I need to build a new computer. Our laptop no longer runs Second Life. And because the "nice computer" is JoLynn's I only get to use it when she is asleep or at work (with a few exceptions) as when she is home and awake, she is using it to play Galaxies. I wish I was exaggerating, but I'm really not.
So to finance a new computer I am donating plasma again (though the first donation money has been spent on food and a movie (X-Men III)) but the bulk of the new computer will be paid for by my Auction of 200 Million Meat from Kingdom of Loathing on Ebay.
My original budget was $150 for basically the most economical parts that can upgrade an existing system I have that would play Second Life. Since the Auction is doing so well, I have since picked out much better parts (and a few other things I will need) budgeted with shipping at $270. At this writing I am $5 shy on Ebay for this price. (then there are the ebay and paypal fees I have to take into account)
I am torn between getting the best system I can afford, and going back to the budget system and having more money for other things for a while. I am not used to having any disposible income so this is quite an adjustment for me. But I need a new computer, I am thinking I should get the best I can afford and be happy with it for many years.
The current specs I am looking at:
Athlon 64 3000+
1 GB RAM
JoLynn is upgrading her video card this week, so I will get her old one.
I am also buying cheapo keyboard, mouse, and speakers. Gonna use my old case, and hard drives (unsure of thier capacity) gonna pick up a monitor at a thrift store or something. JoLynn brought up the possibilty of getting one from her work for me.
If the auction does much better I am thinking I may get a DVD writer too. But if it doesn't I can save money from donating plasma to buy upgrades.
Its been a long while since I really cared about my computer. For about the last 8 years I have been content with hand me down parts, upgrading when my friends did with thier old parts. I will probably be using plasma money for the forseeable future upgrading my new computer so its NICE.
I have to get over this feeling that I don't deserve nice things. Its really hard for me. I am still considering getting the bare minimum, but I am thinking I will get the sweet system. It still feels weird to spend all that money on myself.
But I have been miserable with my Second Life time so curtailed. My in game fiance has been pouty with the short amount of time we have been spending together, and I need the time in the afternoons I am not playing to script. Scripting is my livleyhood in Second Life and if I can't do that, it curtails what I can do in game.
