"School Birthday" and other news

I just got Conor off the bus, and to my surprise he gets off the bus with Birthday Cake, and presnets! I ask him what was going on, and he said, "we pretended it was my birthday today".

They threw Conor a school birthday party today. I guess because his real birthday is during the summer break. He got some Star Wars Attacktix figures, as well as some other small gifts and a Curious George videotape.

The tape is playing right now. Its old stop-motion animation Curious George. His cake is also curious george. Conor really loves Curious George.

This was so sweet of them to do. I wish I knew about it and could have been there. Well I am sure his teacher will be sending home pictures before long.

In other news, I forgot to take my meds last night, and so couldn't sleep. So I haven't slept since yesterday. I am pretty shaky. I think I will probably crash hard. I am exhausted but I don't feel like I can sleep.

In other news, I am quickly becoming addicted to Second Life. I am even having Second Life dreams. Its crazy. And its crazy fun. I am enjoying myself immensley there.

Hey, man: remember when you were talking about "focusing your geekly powers"? well, if you're up to it, I'd love to have your input on a couple of projects I'm working on. Might be fun: and hell, I'd love to talk to you more about the theory that we were discussing. You seemed to really GRASP it really FAST, which makes you a minority of about 1. ;) If I have an Idle up on AIM, try me anyway; it often means I'm there, but working.

Also... have you, personally, tried the Synchronisma demo yet? I threw up a larger one last night, because I was so nervous about something crashing and my losing the complex "moral programming" I spent three days straight working on... but it isn't linked anywhere, because it'd kill my TotS bandwith ATM. But if you want to try either, I'd be honored to see what you think.

And RE: teh Conor: that's adorable.

I'd love to talk to you about your projects. I have downloaded the demo, but have not played it yet. I'll admit its because Second Life is quickly eating up my First Life. But I guess you of all people can understand the appeal of getting lost in a virtual world.

The appeal to some people, maybe: as long as you're AWARE it's a virtual world. But you know how I feel about forced choices.

Grab me on AIM, sometime! And I have a much longer "demo", that I might need some beta-testers for. I'm... pretty blown away by it.

man, they never did that stiff for me. and the rest of us summer babies. They sang us a song and that was that.

They sang you a song??

Lucky bastard.

What a wonderful idea to have School Birthday's!

What's Second Life?

Second Life (http://secondlife.com/) is a massive virtual world. Its kind of hard to explain, but I am clearly addicted already. I guess you can call it a game, but there is really no set objective to the game. Its a virtual life you can live out, and just about anything you can imagine is there, or you can make it yourself.

There's a game out for the Nintendo DS that is very popular called Animal Crossing. You raise crops, build your own house, etc. You have to play it every day to cut down the weeds, etc. I'm not explaining it very well because I don't understand it very well, but it seems to me that they have some similarities in that they're both real-time games.

Curious George is Teh Radness.

I still love Curious George.

That was VERY sweet of them to throw Conor a party. I'm sure he really appreciated it!!

I forget to take doses periodically, but I'm on so much of them it usually doesn't fell me. There are certain doses I can't afford to miss, however, or I'm in REAL trouble. That, and missing sleep, is a sure recipe for some kind of crash or mania.

What's Second Life?

As to what Second Life is, see my reply above.
