An interesting cereal Arrrrrival.

The other night, shortly after 10 pm, we ran out of toilet paper. In our household this is not something that can be remedied in the morning. I had to go out, and buy more toilet paper. Because of the time, there was really only one option as to where to purchase said TP. Wal-Mart. So I went to the store of last resort. After I had the 12 double rolls of Cottonelle with Aloe & E in hand, I scooted down the cereal aisle. I found gold, there my mateys. Cereal Gold. This is perhaps the best Cereal packaging I have ever come across. A most unexpected cereal-product tie-in. What is it says you? Click the cut and find out, says I.

IS that not cool? Captain Jack Sparrow himself selling a box of "Chocolate Pearl-Shaped Cereal with Pirate-Shaped Marshmellows. Who would have thought we would ever see Johnny Depp on a box of cereal? But there is more. Oh Yes, this box is jam packed with Piratey goodness printed all over. Here is the back:

Four different games jammed onto the back of this thing. This cereal box goes above and beyond the call of duty!

Here we have a Pirate vocabulary word, another picture of Captain Jack Sparrow, and a reminder that the movie will be in theaters in 2006. We also see that this cereal that was on the shelf the first week of Febuary will still be good the first week of November.

The cereal itself was pretty yummy. It is basically Co-Coa Puffs with the marshmellows from Lucky Charms. Isn't that also the recipe for Count Chocula come to think of it? I guess its too much to ask to come up with a whole new cereal, all the work obviously goes into the box.

Cereal makers are a lot like Holywood movie writers... They have NO new and original ideas anymore. Every once in a while they just take the same old thing, shape it a little differently and throw it in a colorful new wrapper... Oh... "It's 'ALL NEW' *cough* *hack* cereal!"

OK - So mayber Hollywood and cereal companies are a good mix after all. :-)

Yes, but how about wanting to be a pirate in the PoC movies?

Gah! My Passport expired in November! I dunno if I have a piratey Look though.

But here I am in my skull & crossbones kilt, and a "Kiss Me, I'm a Pirate" t-shirt.

Growing up on the Monkey Island games and learning that one of my anscestors was a Privateer, I've sort of got a fascination for Pirates. That movie was so good. I'm psyched for the new one. I hope its original, and not a rehash.

Make me feel old! I was grown up when Monkey Island came around. Yeesh.

[identity profile] goldenmoonrose.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
well, maybe "growing up" is an exaggeration since we didn't get a computer until I was ten. But I felt young.

I was lucky there were always computers in the house in my early childhood. Though the first one I was allowed to touch was the Apple II my dad bought in 1978. I wrote my first program on that machine.

My parents seperated, and I didn't have a computer in my house again until I was 20! Another Apple II that someone donated to my school, but they had no use for. Ofcourse in those 13 years, I managed to get lots of computer time, anyway I could. You know what? I think I will turn this into a journal entry and continue later. Thanks. :)

I assume Verso filled you in on what's happening at the DLR attraction?

[identity profile] zenmondo.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been following rumors of the changes since July. The rumor started with this article from Jim Hill Media (http://www.jimhillmedia.com/mb/articles/showarticle.php?ID=1263) in January, 2005. Though the changes going through are a far cry as what is described there. Sepereate Day And Night ride experiences and the like.

I love the POTC movie, but have mixed feelings about the ride changes. But nothing I can do about it, really, and I am sure the new show will be really good. Even if they are changing the Wicked Wench into the Black Pearl.

If I could change one thing about Disneyland, it would be to bring the peoplemover (or a peoplemover-like attraction) back to tomorrowland.

[identity profile] nectarfizz.livejournal.com 2006-02-07 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
They just closed down the ride at Disney because they are adding the movie tie-in effects as well as I am sure a very cool Jack Sparrow Animatronic.

You are very welcome. I have a sneaking suspicion that my scans are making the rounds around the internet, but thats alright. How did you come across them?
