zenmondo: (got ki?)
I finished my outline for my Black Belt presentation today. Its starting to feel like its really really gonna happen. Perhaps just as important, I burned my mix-cd with the music I will be using during the presentation. :)

For those of you that don't know, a Black Belt presentation at New School Aikido is part promotion, part demonstration, and part celebration. And I'll be running the show. Its my expression of my Aikido.

All of you are invited ofcourse... I understand many of you won't be able to make it, so I will be recording my presentation and making it availble to anyone who wants it on a video-cd.

The date is May 31. The time is Noon. The Location is New School Aikido, Stockton, CA. The address is 8909 Thornton Road, you can plug that into your favorite driving directions website. :)
zenmondo: (Make Code Not War)
The wife, [livejournal.com profile] keltgrrl tells me that while I was away at the computer someone messaged me on Y!M if I made the "Make Code, Not War" userpic myself. Well whoever you were, I hope you are reading this. The answer is yes, I did. The image behind the words is something I designed called "The Hacker Ethic Icon". I always hoped it would catch on like the peace symbol or something, but alas, only I, and a few of my friends use it.

The icon is explained at one of my cob-web sites (actually version 2 of my first ever website) http://www.xs4all.nl/~jfusion you'll find it in the essays section.

The phrase "Make Code, Not War" actually comes from an advertisement in a computer magazing from the mid-80s. I can't remember the company, but I think they were based in vermont, and always had these illustrations of woodland creatures using computers and stuff. There was a new clever slogan each month, but this one always stuck in my head.
