I stayed up all night finishing the new Harry Potter book. Can't say I am too surprised, I mean we all knew this had to be the The Empire Strikes Back of the Harry Potter series. The second-to-last act. "Luke gets his hand cut off, find out Vader's his father... Han Solo gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett."

We will see if the last Harry Potter book is full of muppetts or not.

Oh, you might be interested in Master B's Harry Potter - Star Wars Grand Unification theory. You can read a little about it on h2g2's Harry Potter spoiler thread (I think there must be a fuller explanation on h2g2 somewhere, but I don't know where...
In a nutshell, Harry is equivalent to Luke, Dumbledore to Obi Wan, Snape to Darth Vader, Voldemort to Darth Sidious (my Star Wars lore isn't great - he's the Emperor, right?)... Obviously, it doesn't work completely but there are a lot of parallels...

I see Obi-Wan as being Sirius Black (avulcular figures) and Yoda as being Dumbledore, the detached teacher figures.

I thought the same thing, about it being the shocking, depressing ending and having parallels to ESB.
