Well spent almost all my money on groceries. But I should be paid back and then some come monday. So it should be alright. When I left for the store, it was cold and rainy. When I came out of the store, it was cold and SNOWING. We got the first snow of the year. It was kind of raining and snowing at the same time. I think the technincal term is "icky weather".

Conor asked me when we were driving to the store, "where does rain come from?" I said, "The sky." and he said, "no, who makes it?"

"Nature makes it."

"Who's he?"

Now I had a slight connundrum. Do I instill a sense of wonder of the supernatural, or give him something more rational? Do I go with magic or science...

"Nature isn't a person, its a system. Its how the world works."

I remember being very interested in science when I was his age... the natural world has a lot of wonder in it without having to resort to the supernatural stuff "behind the curtain" or "outside the cave" or whatever anology you want.

I think I made the right choice.

I remember being 7 and we were driving through the snow and I had a physics revelation: The snow wasn't flying at us, we were flying at the snow. It looked like a blizzard bearing down on the car, but really the snow was lightly falling almost straight down.

I was very proud of myself.

Science experiment: Boil water, hold piece of plastic/bowl/lid over it, show drops condensate, and fall down. The drops are rain.
