accomplishment
So Aspasia heard someone needed a scripter, and submitted my name to him. He wants to bring this gambling game to Second Life.
I finished the prototype of the game today. I was having trouble with it yesterday, and set it aside, and decided to sleep on it. Today when I woke up, I was able to approach it fresh and finish it.
The best part is that I leanred a lot doing it. That's how I work when I program, I need a set goal to code towards. I am pretty unmotivated otherwise.
I get a weird vibe from the guy who commissioned the game though. I think he has other people working on it, and will probably pick the best version. I dunno. If nothing else it gave me something to do for a while.
So I have the prototype of the game finished. Still will have to do a lot of work, and learn some more to make it a real product.
I don't know how much of if I will get paid for this job. I tried explaining to him that I am kind of new, and don't know the value of my own work, or the economy of second life, but he was a bit cagey. When I told him I didn't know how long it would take me, that was when he told me he had bids and estimates from other people already. I think he takes this game, and his role in it very seriously. He offered some barter, the use of his office space and advertising for my scripting business (which doesn't exist yet), but I'd rather get paid in Lindens.
